Gothic Revival Church, AIA cofounder and famed Rural Church architect Richard Upjohn, just prior to civil war. Ghost town.
The church was relocated to fifteen miles to Martin's Station in 1878. The original assembly included a bell tower, but this was rebuilt when the church was first relocated.
Between 2006 and 2008, Rural Studio architecture students moved and reassembled the church in Cahaba
Drawing is composed of graphite and watercolor. Dimensions were acquired through careful on-site measurements and a thorough study of historic photographs and HABS drawings.
This watercolor analysis reflects the 2017 condition of the building.
