Kolkata Mural
Painted in 2016, "Reflect" is the product of two weeks of volunteer work in the Nabo Jibon mission house in Kolkata, India. Run by the Missionaries of Charity, Nabo Jibon is Mother Theresa's home for physically and mentally handicapped men and boys. Volunteers from around the world travel to wash, feed, dress, and care for the residents. This wall mural was commissioned by the brothers who ran the home, and is composed of materials supplied by local vendors and produced with tools kept on hand at Nabo Jibon. Teenage students volunteers from Dubai helped mix the colors and paint the background, and residents, monks, and volunteers offered feedback and engaged with the design process. The project was undertaken to involve, teach, and entertain and engage with the vibrant community healing and living together in Nabo Jibon.
